In my life there were several of those. Life is never always served in banquet of roses and on golden platters. Personally I can indeed say, I have learned to live in abundance and in want, to suffer need and enjoy so much blessings. In all those times there were treasures that accumulated inside of me that only walking though the experience, made me earn the price; and drawing from within those treasures every time there is a need, made things easier to deal with in this life.
Sharing these treasures from within ourselves, helps us and others as well who have needs of them. Think of why your friends say, you are great, intelligent, helpfull and seek your presence more than anybody else at certain points in their life? That is because they see and recognise the inner treasures you provide them. You may not have money, but you are sought for more than those with money and fame. Like the one read in the bible, where the Pharaoh sought for Joseph, who was in the prison to interpret his dream more than the richly scholars.
When you count your blessings, include those treasures from within you and remember to draw from them. You are blessed with so much. Even when you think that you are facing the toughest challenge life brings, deal with them with thankful heart believing that this is the only way, for you to earning treasures for yourself that no one can steal, nor rust can destroy. That only by going through the process of facing them will overcome challenge itself. Like the glitters of fine gold, comes out by the process of mining and refining.
Far more than the treasures of the finest jem is within you. You are loved and treasured by no less than the Creator, Almighty.
